JSKA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2025 MATSUYAMA, JAPAN
🌟 Our Champions
Bompu Karlo — Double Gold (Kata & Kumite)
Bompu delivered an outstanding showing: winning gold in Kata and gold in Kumite. His victories showcase both the precision of his form (kata) and the strategic, combative edge (Kihon Ippon Kumite) required at a world-class level. Achieving gold in two very different disciplines underlines his versatility, her physical conditioning, and her mental composure in high-pressure bouts.
Sri Kumaran Senthil Kumar — Double Gold (Kata & Kumite)
Sri Kumaran matched the feat: also clinching two gold medals, one in Kata and one in Kumite. This mirrors Bompu’s achievement and underscores the depth of our programme. His ability to succeed in both forms-based and fighting-based events speaks to his well-rounded training and competitive mindset.
Shreya Gogoi — Silver Medal (Kata)
Shreya brought home a silver medal in Kata. While she narrowly missed gold, a silver at a world championship is a tremendous achievement—especially in kata, where every movement, balance and expression counts and the margin for error is tiny. Her performance places her among the very best in the world.
🌍 About the Championship
-
The event took place from 1–3 November 2025 in Matsuyama (Ehime Prefecture), Japan.
-
It was organised by the Japan Shotokan Karate Association (JSKA).
-
The championship drew participation from over 34 sporting nations across six continents, making it one of the most globally representative editions.
-
For our country’s team, it marked an important milestone in demonstrating that our athletes can compete and succeed on the world stage of traditional Shotokan karate-do.
✅ What this means for Us
-
The double-gold achievements by Bompu and Sri Kumaran show that our training regime, coaching, and athlete mindset are operating at elite levels.
-
Shreya’s silver in kata adds to our medal tally and motivates us to push further for gold next time — especially in form disciplines.
-
The fact that this championship featured over 34 nations means the competition was very stiff; medals here reflect success against diverse and strong global opponents.
-
These results enhance our reputation and will inspire younger students in our programme — showing what’s possible through dedication and excellence.
